History and Uses:
Iceland Moss is actually not a moss, but a lichen, which grows abundantly in the countries of northern Europe and other northern areas of the world. It has been used medicinally for centuries, especially in the treatment of cardio-pulmonary problems. Iceland Moss is considered a demulcent and a tonic, and it has been used effectively in treating catarrh, tuberculosis, digestive problems and dysentery. For nausea and vomiting, Iceland Moss has been used in combination with Horehound. It is also an appetite stimulant that has been used in cases of anorexia nervosa. Iceland Moss has been the focus of many studies in recent years and has demonstrated great promise in combating HIV-1 infection and certain types of malignant diseases, but further study needs to be done. It has also been determined that Iceland Moss possesses antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiviral properties.
Recommended Dosage:
Take one (1) capsule, one (1) to two (2) times each day with water at mealtimes.
Contraindications:
Iceland Moss should not be used in excessive doses (many times the recommended amounts) nor for prolonged periods of time, as it may cause gastrointestinal irritation, diarrhea or liver problems.
