History and Uses:
Marjoram is grown throughout the world and is often made into a tea or used in cooking. Marjoram Leaf tastes similar to Oregano and is used in its stead when a milder taste is needed. Marjoram is a member of the mint family of plants, which also includes Basil, Thyme, Hyssop, Lavender and Sage. Externally, Marjoram Leaves can be ground into a paste and used for the pain of rheumatism and for sprains, and it can also be made into an oil for relief of toothache pain. Marjoram Leaf has been shown to be highly effective for treating eczema. Marjoram tea has been used to ease stomach pain and indigestion, and to relieve cold and flu symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and respiratory distress. Marjoram Leaf is considered to have antifungal and antioxidant properties, and research has noted Marjoram Leaf's anti-infective qualities as well. In England, Marjoram Leaf is used to relieve colic in infants, as well as indigestion, where its actions are similar to those of Peppermint. Marjoram Leaf has also been used to treat amenorrhea and as a mild diuretic. Currently, research is being conducted on Marjoram Leaf for its potential in combating Alzheimer's disease.
Recommended Dosage:
Take two (2) Capsules, two (2) to three (3) times each day with water at mealtimes.
Contraindications:
Pregnant and nursing women should not use Marjoram Leaf. Those who are allergic to members of the mint family (thyme, basil, sage, oregano, lavender, hyssop, etc.) should avoid this herb.
