History and Uses:
Tribulus Terrestris
has been used as a general energy tonic and as an herbal remedy for impotence. In recent years, Tribulus Terrestris has developed a following among body builders and exercise enthusiasts. It is believed that Tribulus increases testosterone, which may be accomplished by raising the amount of LH (luteinizing hormone) that is produced by the pituitary gland. LH plays a significant role in regulating testosterone production. Tribulus Terrestris has been used in some cultures to increase libido, especially in men, and to treat sexual dysfunction. It has also been used as a tonic to increase energy levels. Tribulus Terrestris has been used in combination with Yohimbe Bark as an enhancer of male performance, both sexually and athletically, and it is also said to be especially effective for maintaining testosterone in individuals who are dieting or engaged in regular, strenuous exercise.
