History and Uses:
As the name implies, Rose Hips are taken from the rose.  The rose is one of the most familiar and most popular flowers in the world.  It has been known and cultivated since ancient times, and dried roses thousands of years old have been found in Egyptian tombs. Although there are hundreds of different kinds of rose grown throughout the world, they have all been developed from a few wild varieties, and new kinds are produced constantly through the experiments of rose growers.  A rose bush will bear flowers for several years

if it is protected from cold weather, and new plants can be grown by cutting off a stalk and letting it form its own new roots in water or damp sand.  Rose Hips are the ripe, fresh or dried seed receptacle of various species of the genus Rosa.  Rose Hips contains Vitamin C, beta-carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, Vitamins E and K, polyphenols, Bioflavonoids, tannin, pectin and vanillin.  When World War II precluded British citizens from obtaining citrus, they used Rose Hips as a Vitamin C supplement.  Rose Hips are considered mildly diuretic, laxative and astringent.  Rose Hips are useful for colds and flu, general debility and exhaustion, constipation, infections and bladder problems. Rose Hips tea is especially good for diarrhea.

Recommended Dosage:
Take two (2) Capsules, one (1) to two (2) times each day with water at mealtimes.

Contraindications:
As a natural diuretic, Rose Hips may increase the efficacy of prescription diuretics and should not be used at the same time.  Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking a blood thinner, such as Coumadin®.
