Orange Peel is harvested from the ripened fruit of the Orange tree. The Orange is among the most popular of citrus fruits and were first grown in Asia, but now are raised in many parts of the world where the climate is warm, such as Florida, California and Brazil. Oranges were once considered a great delicacy, but now they are plentiful in most places. They are a very healthful fruit, because they contain a large amount of vitamin C.
Oranges are eaten fresh; the juice is a popular beverage; and the Orange Peel is used to make candy and marmalade, and as a flavoring. Orange Peel also contains an oil that is used in making perfume and soap. The Orange Peel, as with Lemon Peel, is also where most of the vitamin C is located, so if you're eating just the fruit, you're missing out on most of the vitamin C. Orange Peel is also a source of pectin, an indigestible carbohydrate that stimulates the growth of probiotic bacteria in the large intestine. These bacteria help prevent food-borne pathogens. Orange Peel has also been shown to aid in the prevention of indigestion, lower cholesterol and help in the digestion of fatty foods. Orange Peel has been studied as an agent to fight malignant diseases, and it shows much promise in that regard. Supplementing with Orange Peel Powder is a healthy way to increase vitamin C intake, thus improving overall health in regard to increased immunity to cold and flu that vitamin C provides, as well as aiding digestion and preventing food-related illnesses.
