Noni Fruit comes from an evergreen shrub found throughout the South Pacific, most predominantly in Tahiti and Hawaii.  Noni Fruit is a great natural source of vitamin C and enzyme enhancing alkaloids, and is also said to have many added health benefits.

History and Uses:
Noni Fruit is native to Polynesia and the South Pacific. The Noni is an evergreen shrub that thrives in the volcanic soil of the Hawaiian Islands, and was once used medicinally more than any other plant in the Pacific.  Today, the fruit has regained much of its following.

Noni Fruit has been sold as a cure-all in recent times, with anecdotal evidence claiming that it is beneficial in fighting fatigue, depression sexual dysfunction, PMS and arthritis.  What may be Noni Fruit's most well known constituent is a compound alkaloid, proxeronine, which is believed to be a precursor to xeronine.  Xeronine is an alkaloid, which is believed to activate dormant enzymes and support healthy cell function.  Whether this leads to the miracle cures claimed by some is open to debate, but Noni Fruit appears to have benefits that some claim are beyond dispute.  Noni Fruit is an excellent source of beneficial acids and alkaloids and is an excellent source of vitamin C, and this vitamin's benefits on overall health are vast and unquestioned.  Supplementing with Noni Fruit is a great way to increase your vitamin C intake naturally, which can improve the immune system and speed recovery from colds and flu.  Noni Fruit may also have benefits beyond that which have yet to be proven.

Contraindications:
People who have difficulty urinating should avoid Noni. Because it contains a significant quantity of potassium, it could be problematic for anyone with kidney dysfunction or who takes ACE inhibitors (Altace, Capoten, Lotensin, Prinivil, Vasotec) or angiotensin-receptor blockers (Atacand, Avapro, Cozaar, Micardis, Teveten). Thus far, proxeronine has not been a scientifically identified chemical compound, nor is there any reliable published clinical research on the health-enhancing effects of Noni, and there have been several published reports of people who suffered liver damage after drinking the juice.
