Botanical SafeGuard - Herbal Support for GERD - is a botanical alternative medicine formulation which contains a blend of all-natural herbal extracts for effective support for GERD. GERD, commonly called acid reflux disease or Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease, occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter does not close properly, and as a result stomach contents leak back into the esophagus. The lower esophageal sphincter is a valve between the esophagus and the stomach. When refluxed stomach acid contacts the lining of the esophagus, it causes a burning sensation in the chest or throat commonly known as heartburn. GERD can also cause a dry cough and bad breath. Hiatal hernias may contribute to the onset of GERD as does alcohol use, being overweight, and smoking. GERD can cause serious complications such as inflammation of the esophagus from stomach acid, which can cause bleeding or ulcers. Also, scar tissue can narrow the esophagus and make swallowing difficult.
PURPOSE OF FORMULATION: This formulation provides numerous herbal ingredients that have an ability to support the body in counteracting the effects of GERD.

HERBAL INGREDIENTS: Proprietary blend of standardized herbal extracts of Aloe Vera Leaf (Aloe vera), Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus), Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), Cordydalis (Corydalis formosa), Fennel Seed (Foeniculum vulgare), Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis), Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), Slippery Elm Bark (Ulmus fulva), and Turmeric Root (Curcuma longa). Also contains L-Glutamine and Vitamin B-12.
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE: Take one (1) to two (2) capsules with each meal, or during symptomatic episodes.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use in conjunction with prescription diuretics. Do not take if currently taking DigoxinŽ or WafarinŽ. May have adverse reaction with internal corticosteroids.
