About Constipation - Constipation is when your pet has difficulty, or is not capable of having a bowel movement.  Generally, it is caused by the dehydration of fecal matter that passes through the colon.  The feces then form a solid, dry mass in the colon and become very hard to expel.  If left untreated, constipation may turn to obstipation (severe impaction or blockage of the intestines). Most often this condition is due to a deficiency of fiber, water, or possibly other underlying problems.  In cats, constipation may also be caused by a dilated colon (this condition is known as Megacolon).

PURPOSE OF FORMULATION:  Botanical support for the relief of constipation and to help the body regain its natural process of bowel elimination. Also to aid in the cleansing of the colon and intestines.

FORM:  Bulk powder (100 grams, 390 grams, -or- 575 grams)

HERBAL INGREDIENTS:  Proprietary blend of aloe vera leaf, cascara sagrada bark, chickweed, dandelion root, oregon grape root, psyllium seed, senna leaf, slippery elm bark, valerian root, wheat grass, and yellow dock root. [Click Here for more information about these herbal ingredients]

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE:  Use the recommended dosage (shown below) for seven (7) days consecutively. On the eighth (8th) day, if the condition persists, discontinue use of this product and consult your veterinarian immediately. [Tips for administering herbs to your pets]

Cats

Small (up to 10 lbs.):

One (1) level scoop*, two (2) times each day.

Medium & Large (11 lbs. or over):

Two (2) level scoops, two (2) times each day.
 

Dogs

 

Extra Small (under 10 lbs.):

One (1) level scoop, two (2) times each day.

Small (11 to 25 lbs.):

Two (2) level scoops, two (2) times each day.

Medium (26 to 50 lbs.):

Three (3) level scoops, two (2) times each day.

Large (51 to 100 lbs.):

Four (4) level scoops, two (2) times each day. 

X-Large (100 lbs. or over):

Five (5) level scoops, two (2) times each day.
   
* (The scoop supplied with this blend is 1/4 teaspoon level to the top).

PRECAUTIONS:  This product should not be used if your pet suffers from intestinal obstructions, inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal pain due to unknown causes, or gastrointestinal problems such as colitis and Crohn's disease. Also, do not use this product if your pet is pregnant or lactating. Some animals are sensitive to the herb Senna and may develop diarrhea. If the constipation turns to diarrhea, stop using this product immediately.
